Our Mission
Climate Intelligence (Clintel) is an independent foundation that informs the public about climate change and climate policies. Its main objective is to generate knowledge and understanding of the causes and effects of climate change, as well as the impacts of climate policy on the economy and the environment. To achieve this, Clintel:
- Communicates objectively and transparently to the general public about the available facts on climate change and climate policy, and clearly distinguishes where facts end and assumptions or predictions begin.
- Conducts and stimulates public debate and carries out investigative reporting in this field.
- Serves as an international meeting place for scientists holding different views on climate change and climate policy.
- Conducts or finances its own scientific research into climate change and climate policy.
Clintel aims to act as an independent “climate watchdog” in both climate science and climate policy.

Clintel was founded in 2019 by emeritus professor of geophysics Guus Berkhout and science journalist Marcel Crok.
