Er is geen klimaatcrisis
Een wereldwijd netwerk van

wetenschappers en experts komt met deze urgente boodschap: de klimaatwetenschap zou veel minder politiek moeten zijn, terwijl klimaatbeleid juist wetenschappelijker zou moeten zijn. Wetenschappers zouden openlijk de onzekerheden en overdrijvingen in hun klimaatvoorspellingen moeten adresseren, terwijl politici rationeel de werkelijke kosten evenals de veronderstelde voordelen van hun beleidsmaatregelen zouden moeten becijferen.
De opwarming is veroorzaakt door zowel natuurlijke als antropogene factoren
De geologische geschiedenis laat zien dat het Aardse klimaat gevarieerd heeft zolang als de planeet bestaat, met natuurlijke koude en warme periodes. De Kleine IJstijd eindigde pas in 1850. Het is daarom geen verrassing dat we nu weer een periode van opwarming meemaken.
De opwarming gaat veel langzamer dan voorspeld
De wereld is minder dan de helft zo snel opgewarmd als het IPCC in het verleden voorspelde op basis van gemodelleerde antropogene forcering en de stralingsdisbalans van de aarde. Het maakt duidelijk dat we klimaatverandering nog lang niet begrijpen.
Het klimaatbeleid is gebaseerd op ontoereikende modellen
Klimaatmodellen hebben vele tekortkomingen en zijn bij lange na niet geloofwaardig als mondiaal beleidsinstrument. Modellen overdrijven het effect van broeikasgassen zoals CO2. Bovendien negeren modellen de gunstige effecten van CO2-verrijking in de atmosfeer.
CO2 is plantenvoedsel, de basis van al het leven op Aarde
CO2 is geen vervuilende stof. Het is essentieel voor al het leven op Aarde. Fotosynthese is een zegen. Meer CO2 is gunstig voor de natuur, het maakt de Aarde groener: meer CO2 in de lucht heeft mondiaal geleid tot een toename van biomassa. Het leidt wereldwijd ook tot hogere landbouwopbrengsten.
De opwarming van de Aarde heeft niet geleid tot een toename in natuurrampen
Er is geen bewijs dat de opwarming van de Aarde heeft geleid tot een intensivering van orkanen, overstromingen en droogte en andere natuurrampen, of dat zulke gebeurtenissen vaker voorkomen. Er is echter overtuigend bewijs dat CO2-reducerende maatregelen zowel schadelijk als kostbaar zijn.
Klimaatbeleid moet rekening houden met zowel de wetenschappelijke als de economische realiteit
Er is geen klimaatcrisis. Er is daarom ook geen reden voor paniek en alarm. Wij zijn fel tegen de schadelijke en onrealistische honderd procent CO2-reductie doelstellingen voor 2050. Als zich betere opties aandienen, en dat zal zeker het geval zijn, dan hebben we voldoende tijd om goed na te denken en ons opnieuw aan te passen. Het doel van het mondiale beleid zou moeten zijn ‘welvaart voor ons allen’, door de bevolking te allen tijden te voorzien van betrouwbare en betaalbare energie. In een welvarende samenleving zijn mannen en vrouwen goed opgeleid, zijn geboortecijfers laag en hebben mensen hart voor hun omgeving.
