António Guterres, Secretary-General, United Nations,
United Nations Headquarters,
New York, NY 10017, United States of America.
Dear Mr. Guterres,
On 23 September 2019 we have sent you a registered letter, expressing our major concerns about your idealistic plans to stop climate change, which you never answered.
On 5 May 2020 we had the honor to share with you in a second letter our profound worries about your plans to re-engineer the world’s economy into an ideologic green system (ref. Petersberg Virtual Dialogue). Again, you never replied.
On 2 January 2023 we wrote to you in a third letter asking you to stop making a plea for a ‘net-zero society’. Results of this policy clearly show that it will destroy our economies; billions will suffer. Again, you never did reply.
This time we write to you for the fourth time to make you aware that an international team of scientists from the 1500-strong Climate Intelligence Foundation (Clintel) has assessed several claims from the IPCC Working Group 1 and Working Group 2 reports. Results have been summarized in Clintel’s report The Frozen Climate Views of the IPCC:
Thorough analysis by Clintel shows serious errors in latest IPCC report – Clintel
Clintel’s report has been sent to the Chairman of IPCC, Professor Dr Hoesung Lee. The firm criticism in the letter identifies biased and invalid scientific work in the AR6 report and mentions serious lack of internal governance in IPCC.
No surprise that more and more people in the world don’t believe anymore in an “existential climate crisis”. They realize that your familiar scaring-to-death narrative is based on over-heated computer models. Knowing the weakness of these models, why do you keep on talking about an “upcoming climate hell”? And why do you still insist on “keeping the net-zero targets”?
Mr. Guterres, in the 1945 charter of the UN it clearly says that the UN should employ an international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples. However, by promoting a hasty destruction of the oil and gas industry worldwide – without any suitable replacement – you do the opposite and will push the world into an energy crisis, leading to global poverty.
And why do not you recognize that mass generation of intermittent solar and wind energy is leading to unreliable energy systems and very high energy prices? In addition, it will create huge damage to the natural environment and a serious shortage to materials such as copper, cobalt and neodymium.
We repeat our invitation to you to organize with Clintel a constructive high-level meeting between world-class scientists on both sides of the debate on your green plans. A ‘Red Team Meeting’ will give effect to the sound and ancient principle that both sides should be fully and fairly heard. Audiatur et altera pars!
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Yours sincerely,
Professor A.J. (Guus) Berkhout,
President of Clintel

P.S. The main objective of the Climate Intelligence Foundation (Clintel) is to generate knowledge and understanding of the causes and effects of climate change, as well as of the effects of climate policy. Clintel published the World Climate Declaration, which has now been signed by more than 1500 scientists and experts worldwide, thus rivalling in size and credentials the IPCC’s Working Group authorship lists.
